    the makemassair, personal business cards

Ahead of Friday’s Tate Britain screening of the AV project sevenzero (feedback from the screening coming up in a bit), I decided I needed some business cards to promote myself. Despite having been operating as a full time freelancer since February 2009 all my work has been in the digital/online domain and I’d not needed a business card. Having them now makes me feel that little bit more business like. Not that I didn’t feel that way before, but there is something satisfying in saying:

Please, have one of my business cards. I look forward to hearing from you soon…

So these are my business cards. Printed locally on 350gsm card. I think they came out brilliantly. I have been promising on Twitter that I would put them up for people to see. So true to my word here you go:

And the artwork, designed by yours truly of course:

If you would like one of these highly collectible, and limited edition cards (hahaha), get in contact.

    spot: Levi van Veluw

Levi van Veluw is a multidisciplinary artist, living and working in the Netherlands. I came across his work a good few months ago now and was struck by it’s ability to present a tactility to simple presentation. His work is afaik all self portrait based being both expressive and introspective. He is a one man process.

His works constitute elemental transfers – modifying the face as object – combining it with other stylistic elements to create a third visual object with a large visual impact. The work you see therefore is not a portrait, but an information-rich image of colour, form, texture, and content. The image contains the history of a short creative process, with the artist shifting between the entities of subject and object.

    Yuichi Higashionna and light

chandelier vii Yuichi Higashionna and light

Yuichi Higashionna questions the optical experience in his work. Back in May ‘09 in Tokyo at the Calm and Punk Gallery he exhibited his refract! collection:

this particular show features an installation that is inspired by the idea of ‘the uncanny’. Included in the show will be a new piece in his chandelier series made from florescent lamps as well as an installation made from rubber bands and pieces combining painting and animation

There are some amazing pictures from his exhibition on Designbloom and an interview with Yuichi on the SHIFT site

    Flavor paper

A short documentary about Flavor Paper and their handmade wallpaper, including scratch n sniff.

Bringing a dose of modern irreverence to old world decor, Flavor Paper screenprints wallpaper by hand in their New Orleans studio. This episode of our video series visits with owner Jon Sherman and tours the factory to learn about how they do it.

If you have never heard of Cool Hunting, I really recommend you subscribe to their video podcasts.
