    the makemassair, personal business cards

Ahead of Friday’s Tate Britain screening of the AV project sevenzero (feedback from the screening coming up in a bit), I decided I needed some business cards to promote myself. Despite having been operating as a full time freelancer since February 2009 all my work has been in the digital/online domain and I’d not needed a business card. Having them now makes me feel that little bit more business like. Not that I didn’t feel that way before, but there is something satisfying in saying:

Please, have one of my business cards. I look forward to hearing from you soon…

So these are my business cards. Printed locally on 350gsm card. I think they came out brilliantly. I have been promising on Twitter that I would put them up for people to see. So true to my word here you go:

And the artwork, designed by yours truly of course:

If you would like one of these highly collectible, and limited edition cards (hahaha), get in contact.

At this year’s Glade Festival I was lucky enough to perform for about 10 hours. One of those was during Plaza de Funk’s set. Of which these 3 edits were recorded during.

Massive shouts to Arran for booking me and Marcello for a great set to perform to.

project: Sample Remix site design update

I’ve been doing the graphic design, branding, web design and even video production (see the Acedia project) for the fashion label Sample Remix. Earlier today I updated the front page design of the Sample Remix site to tie in with promoting the Acedia project, essentially adding a link to the promo/press page for the performance and updating the imagery used. It is getting rarer for sites to have splash pages but I think that this site works with one.

The original splash image, which was the only link to the subsequence site:

And the updated image and page design, adding in a text based link to the subsequence site:

Also, the Acedia web promo/press page is all but complete (I’ll be adding production credits below the row of button links at the bottom). I feel it keeps the simple, clean and clear design of the Sample Remix graphic design and branding so far and let’s the trailer and information shine through.

    Flavor paper

A short documentary about Flavor Paper and their handmade wallpaper, including scratch n sniff.

Bringing a dose of modern irreverence to old world decor, Flavor Paper screenprints wallpaper by hand in their New Orleans studio. This episode of our video series visits with owner Jon Sherman and tours the factory to learn about how they do it.

If you have never heard of Cool Hunting, I really recommend you subscribe to their video podcasts.

Massive thanks to everyone who’s been involved on this. Can honestly say that every track on this EP is deadly. And free.

Please feel free to share, distribute, and repost. We want this spreading as far and wide as possible.

The Noise Network is a collaboration of music makers. Veteran producers join forces with rising stars and unsung heroes. The aim of this label is to break fresh ground and breathe new life into the scene, without being troubled by commercial concerns. This is music created, compiled and released purely for the love of it, a collective effort for the benefit of the community.

Our first release features four standout tracks from four different producers.

    Force – Psydermen
Force is one of many hidden gems within the scene, a truly unique take on techno that too few people are exposed to. Force cuts tracks as machines would create them themselves. His grooves pulse and grind with mechanical menace, searing metallic percussion and crunching rhythms. Psydermen is a perfect introduction to Force’s brutal yet undeniably funky bass heavy techno. Force has crafted his sound through years of involvement in the London free party scene, having come up alongside bands such as Depeche Mode and Nizter Ebb, and living through the early years when techno first broke across the UK. An artist to watch out for.

    Jay Pace & Temper D – Moglin
Long time raving allies Jay Pace & Temper D set out to combine techno grooves and drum & bass energy in a collaborative project. Temper D is fast becoming recognized as a true pioneer of techno-influenced drum & bass, a leading light in the scene and a formidable DJ and performer. Jay Pace is an emerging producer, heavily influenced by both hardcore and rave together with techno minimalism. Currently making waves and gaining support from all corners of the scene Jay Pace is another artist to watch out for. Moglin captures peak time rave energy in its discordant synth loops, manic rhythms and earth-shaking bass tones.

    Siege – Dagenda
Calvin Whittaker (aka Siege) has been tearing up parties across the UK for a decade, and is an established artist and producer in the UK scene, also recording under the name Solitude Suite with Casual Violence. Siege has played alongside a troop of world class talent, and with a strong understanding of the dance floor and an encompassing appreciation of techno, Siege is one of the most exciting artists producing today. Dagenda is a blistering peak time track – driving bass, pounding percussion and a relentless groove cleaves through this exceptional example of UK techno at its finest.

    Acidizer – Stretch
Acidizer has cut a classic old school track – surging acid plays off against bubbling basslines, vintage beats and masterfully arranged percussion. Acidizer (aka J Rainen) has spent a lifetime listening to electronic music, from a childhood steeped in Jarre, Kraftwerk, early computer production to the rise of Acid House. He has produced acid alongside T.Kesa?niemi as Healium, and released on infamous imprints such as Skeletor Records, Djax Up-Beats & Communique Records. Acidizer has a simple philosophy – music is supposed to be fun, that’s what parties are about. Stretch incorporates this vibe and the attitude of the original rave spirit.

All tracks were mastered by Steve Loss at Black Monolith Studios.
